A leader in aging research
As a center of excellence and as a leader in the field of aging services, Beatitudes Campus through its forward-thinking personnel is committed to seeking opportunities for research and learning, and to educating staff both here and at other organizations that provide services for older adults.
Through our award-winning Comfort Matters research and education initiative, Beatitudes Campus is improving care practices for persons at early, moderate, and advanced stages of dementia. This program was developed through research at Vermilion Cliffs, the campus center for moderate to advanced memory support. Its goal was to create a model program of best practices to improve quality of care and quality of life for persons with dementia. Successes with the person-directed and staff-empowered approaches led the researchers to work with colleagues in other organizations who were also successful.
The program has completely changed the way dementia care and memory support are provided not only at Beatitudes Campus, but also beyond the campus. Hundreds of teams from long-term, assisted living, and dementia care centers have completed Comfort Matters Education, and then implemented the program at their own organizations.
