Located in north central Phoenix, Church of the Beatitudes is an Open and Affirming congregation, seeking to provide an extravagant welcome for all people. Its history is rich with innovative outreach projects that have improved the lives of many people, including the founding of these related not-for-profits:
Founded 1965 – www.beatitudescampus.org
For more than 40 years the Beatitudes Campus has provided a warm, comfortable, and engaging lifestyle to seniors in the heart of north central Phoenix. It was conceived to be a place where older adults could live, learn, and grow through all the days of their lives. Their founders dreamed of a "campus," borrowing the term from the educational community because of its sense of continual growth and vibrancy. Beatitudes Campus was one of the first to introduce the concept of continuing care and quality retirement living and they proudly live their Mission every day to offer a wide spectrum of services and a model of wellness that promotes soundness of mind, spirit, and body for older adults.
Duet: Partners In Health & Aging
Founded 1981 – www.duetaz.org
Duet offers a wide range of health and aging services to homebound adults, caregivers, faith communities and grandparents raising grandchildren. This innovative interfaith organization (formerly named Beatitudes Center DOAR) was founded with the vision of partnering with congregations, volunteers, and donors to offer free-of-charge services throughout the greater Phoenix area. From providing grocery shopping and rides to the doctor, to health promotion activities and support groups, Duet’s one-on-one assistance helps older adults and their families cope with challenges related to aging. Duet also helps faith communities establish vibrant health programs. By working in tandem with others, Duet creates a stronger and more caring community.
